How to Build a PC Step by Step Installation Guide

With our guide on how to build a PC step by step, you will learn how to install each component safely and correctly. If you have all the parts for your new gaming computer build you are ready to put the pieces together.

Building your own custom PC isn't hard at all these days, and you don't usually need prior experience. Installing components is very straightforward and all you usually need are the basic instructions that come with the parts anyway. So it's very possible you won't even need the following information on how to build a pc, but it's here if you get stuck.

Before getting started I would be sure that you have read the *safety precautions to building a gaming computer article. It covers important information about building your PC safety and correctly.
Your PC components come in an anti-static bag, but do not remove them from their bags until you need to. The case and components should provide all the nuts and bolts you need for installation, but you may require a screwdriver as well.

Preparing the PC Case

The first step in building your PC is preparing the computer case. To build your PC use an area that has enough room, ample lighting, and with at least two nearby mains power outlets.Unpack the computer case and follow the instructions that came with it to remove the outer casing or the side cover panel, depending on the case style. Then lay the case on its side on a flat surface so you have easy access to the inside of the case to install your components.

Installing the Power Supply Unit (PSU)

You now need to fit the power supply into the case, which is very simple to do. It fits into the large hole at the back end of the case which is usually at the top. Make sure that the power socket and fan outlet face outwards. Secure the PSU with the screws that came with it.
